The Congressmen wrote, “The scope and burden of this heavy-handed regulation are not consistent with the reality on the ground in these Southwest Michigan counties. The EPA must recognize that given these counties’ locations, meteorological factors likely brought the pollutants into this region from more major industrial centers like Chicago, IL; Gary, IN; and Milwaukee, WI. Notably, contiguous counties such as Van Buren and Ottawa were not included in this EPA decision. Furthermore, the compliance costs associated with the CAA requirements will improperly impose devastating economic losses on our hardworking communities… While we understand the need for air quality standards, this decision impacting our communities is not appropriate.”

"After two years of reckless spending and record inflation that destroyed the wages and purchasing power of Michigan residents, President Biden has another plan for more runaway spending,” said Moolenaar. “The American people cannot afford Biden’s tax hikes, spending increases, and further expansion of the federal government. Biden’s plan has no chance of passing Congress as is and I will be fighting for common sense policies that will get our country back on track.”

The fellowship program created by my legislation can help veterans gain the skills they need for full-time employment and make an easier transition to a new career,” said Moolenaar.

"Biden’s proclamations about the State of the Union are out of touch with Michigan families who are struggling to get by. In Biden’s second year, inflation hit a four-decade high, gas cost $5.00 a gallon, China encroached on our airspace, students were left behind, and the border fell further into crisis," said Congressman John Moolenaar. "It is time to change course and get America back on track. I am fighting for American energy independence, responsible spending, lower inflation, and to ensure the government keeps the promises made to our seniors."

I will be questioning federal officials and holding them accountable for their spending proposals. Michigan residents work hard and their tax dollars should never be wasted,” said Moolenaar.

"The pandemic is over – President Biden said so himself – and yet there are still unspent funds sitting at federal departments that he said were needed for the pandemic response. It is time to direct those funds back to the Treasury and pay down the debt. The trillions Biden has already spent in just two years has helped drive inflation to 40-year highs. My legislation will help rein in inflation that is hurting Michigan families and stop Biden from spending even more,” said Moolenaar.

China has been actively working to weaken America. It is buying U.S. farmland, stealing inventions, jeopardizing the health of every person in the world, and building up its military while threatening its neighbors. I look forward to working with my colleagues to address all of these issues, as well as our nation’s supply chain concerns, in order to better prepare America for the challenges from the Chinese Communist Party,” said Moolenaar.

It may be a new year, but for Michigan families it is another month of higher prices under Biden and Harris. I will be working to rein in inflation and develop more American energy to get the country back on track."
