Moolenaar Secures Funding for Kent County, Cadillac, and Shelby Township in New Legislation

July 18, 2023

Today, the House Committee on Appropriations passed the 2024 budget for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Congressman John Moolenaar is a member of the committee and the legislation includes his requests to help the residents and communities of the Second District.

Included in the bill is $2,000,000 for the Grand Agricultural Center of West Michigan in Kent County, $2,900,000 for development and community investment in Cadillac, and $800,000 for the Shelby Community Park in Oceana County.

“As Michigan’s only member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am proud to support communities in the Second District with crucial funding. The project in Kent County will provide a space for education and activities for the Kent County Youth Agriculture Association. The funding for Cadillac will be used to develop a vacant site to address the need for affordable housing and development downtown. The Shelby Community Park project will be a welcomed addition to the area and be a place for residents to enjoy. I encourage local leaders to reach out to my office for more information if they are interested in funding projects for their community,” said Congressman Moolenaar.
