“Governor Whitmer has given hundreds of millions of dollars to Chinese auto suppliers in Michigan. If she is ready to show she is serious about stopping the Chinese Communist Party from taking over our auto industry she will end the state subsidies she approved for Chinese auto suppliers and stop their projects from moving forward. She has subsidized the CCP’s efforts to make our automakers more dependent on China. Her concerns about Chinese auto suppliers hurting our economy are empty until she ends her subsidies for them,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

"President Biden's electric vehicle mandate is killing Michigan jobs and hurting our automakers. His administration is working to force EVs into the market when Americans who have made it clear they do not want them. I look forward to working with President-elect Trump to end Biden's EV mandate, and strengthen Michigan's auto industry," said Congressman John Moolenaar.

Today’s announcement by the Treasury Department leaves the door wide open for Gotion and other Chinese companies to receive federal tax credits. It is a disgraceful policy that will take money from hardworking Michigan families and funnel it straight to Beijing while forcing our Michigan automakers to become more dependent on supply chains controlled by China.

“Biden-Harris policies are hurting Michigan families with higher prices for groceries, housing, and energy. The First Lady’s visit today promises more policies Michigan families cannot afford. I am working to cut wasteful federal spending and rein in inflation,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

“Today’s rule from the Biden-Harris team fails to do enough to protect Michigan workers and the American people from CCP threats to our auto industry. While the administration has concluded Chinese auto components and software are a national security threat, Biden and Harris must now stop their giveaway of taxpayer dollars to CCP-affiliated companies. They should support my NO GOTION Act, which will stop Chinese companies from collecting billions of dollars from American taxpayers. Finally, while Biden and Harris talk tough on China, their EV rules play into the hands of the CCP, and make our auto industry dependent on supply chains controlled by China. They must end those rules and let American autoworkers innovate,” said John Moolenaar, the chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are attempting to force the production of electric vehicles the American people do not want. This hurts Michigan’s auto companies and everyone who works in our auto industry. It also plays right into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party’s plans to dominate the EV supply chain. Biden and Harris must end this policy because it hurts Michigan jobs and creates an unfair playing field for Michigan workers,” said Moolenaar.
