Jobs and the Economy

Unnecessary and burdensome regulations have hindered economic growth and job creation in America. That is why I am fighting for smarter, pro-growth policies that get government out of the way and help small businesses expand and hire new workers. In fact, I have supported overturning numerous regulations written by unelected bureaucrats who do not understand the negative consequences of the rules they wrote.
Michigan has a talented workforce and world-leading manufacturing base, and we can keep it that way by promoting opportunities in the skilled trades. I am committed to ensuring residents have the opportunity to learn career and technical skills that are vital to applying for good-paying jobs.

“Today’s rule from the Biden-Harris team fails to do enough to protect Michigan workers and the American people from CCP threats to our auto industry. While the administration has concluded Chinese auto components and software are a national security threat, Biden and Harris must now stop their giveaway of taxpayer dollars to CCP-affiliated companies. They should support my NO GOTION Act, which will stop Chinese companies from collecting billions of dollars from American taxpayers. Finally, while Biden and Harris talk tough on China, their EV rules play into the hands of the CCP, and make our auto industry dependent on supply chains controlled by China. They must end those rules and let American autoworkers innovate,” said John Moolenaar, the chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are attempting to force the production of electric vehicles the American people do not want. This hurts Michigan’s auto companies and everyone who works in our auto industry. It also plays right into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party’s plans to dominate the EV supply chain. Biden and Harris must end this policy because it hurts Michigan jobs and creates an unfair playing field for Michigan workers,” said Moolenaar.

“State officials have reportedly identified an American company to partner with for a project in Michigan. They should have been focused on attracting American companies from the start, instead of giving taxpayer dollars to CCP-affiliated companies including Gotion. Now is the perfect time for them to correct their mistake and end state support for Gotion,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

"The American people do not want to fund our enemies. The American people do not want to be held hostage to the whims of the Chinese Communist Party for our supply of critical minerals. Under the current regulations brought upon by the Inflation Reduction Act, these nightmares have become our reality. The End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act is an important start toward this objective. It aligns with the goal of my NO GOTION Act, which would end the IRA’s subsidies for CCP-affiliated companies. If we want to encourage American energy innovation, we cannot be subsidizing CCP companies at the same time," said Moolenaar during the debate.

“This Gotion deal has involved secrecy every step of the way – with MEDC using non-disclosure agreements and now Gotion trying to block Green Township from questioning the company's CEO. This CCP-affiliated company continues to force itself onto a community that does not want it. State and local leaders should end this project for good and allow the healing to begin,” said Jacob Huner, press secretary for Congressman John Moolenaar.

"Reporters covering the Gotion story must ask the company to show its work. The company says it will create 2,350 jobs and have a payroll of $106 million. That’s $45,106 a job, which is well below the $61,995 average annual wage the company previously promised the state legislature when it asked for millions of dollars in taxpayer support. The company, which is the wrong business partner for Michigan, and routinely misleads Michigan residents about its connections to the Chinese Communist Party, should show its math for everyone to see,” said Jacob Huner, press secretary for Congressman John Moolenaar.

“Vice President Harris is responsible for trillions of dollars in wasteful spending and the painful inflation hurting Michigan families. Parents and seniors are struggling to make ends meet and they see the results of her failures every time they pay their bills or go to the grocery store,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

“Vice President Harris’s policies have failed Michigan women and families by causing higher prices for food, raising the cost of living, and making it harder for families to make ends meet. She was appointed by President Biden to secure our border and since then, millions of people have illegally crossed the border. She also helped cover up President Biden’s declining health, and Michigan reporters should be asking her what she knew about his health and when she knew it,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

“President Biden’s failed policies have caused inflation to skyrocket over the last three years and Michigan families feel the pain every time they go to the grocery store. They are also increasingly concerned that the president’s health makes him unfit for office. I hope Michigan reporters will ask the President directly if he has the capacity to serve as the leader of the free world and make crucial decisions about the safety of our servicemembers and national security,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

“Michigan parents’ top priority is putting food on the table for their children, and sadly, that job is harder due to higher food costs caused by President Biden’s failed policies. For affordable and nutritious food, we must support family farms here in Michigan, but the Biden administration has made it more difficult for them to grow and harvest the food we need. Finally, the Senate Agriculture Committee, which is led by Democrats, should pass a Farm Bill that supports our farmers,” said Congressman John Moolenaar, who represents Middleville in the House of Representatives.
