Moolenaar Legislation Included In Spending Reduction Proposal

April 19, 2023

Today, it was announced that Congressman John Moolenaar's proposal to rescind emergency COVID funding has been included in legislation being led by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to reduce overall federal spending. Earlier this year, Moolenaar introduced the Saving Taxpayers' Money and Paying America's Debt Act, which would rescind unobligated funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 that is still sitting unused in accounts at federal departments in Washington D.C. This proposal is now part of McCarthy’s Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023.

"Our country’s debt requires us to look at ideas to reduce spending and choose the most important priorities. My legislation eliminates funding that was approved two years ago as emergency spending. Now that the emergency is over, it is just common sense to stop that spending,” said Moolenaar.
