"The situation in Ukraine has highlighted the need for the United States to be self-sustaining when it comes to our energy needs. With gas prices already soaring and the Biden Administration saying it will only get worse, we cannot allow the Michiganders to be held for ransom at the pump by foreign tyrants. I pledge to work with my colleagues to ensure America becomes energy independent. This includes protecting Line 5, and re-starting construction for the Keystone pipeline. These steps toward energy independence will not only lower energy prices for Michigan families, but will bolster our national security."

"We must impose severe sanctions on Russia as soon as possible, and the NYET Act will make that happen. I am supporting this legislation because it is a smart, targeted approach that will hurt Russian financial institutions and the powerful people who prop up Vladimir Putin’s government,” said Moolenaar. “It will also block U.S. exports of semiconductor chips to Russia. We need those chips here to support our economy and manufacturing. Finally, there are more than 39,000 Ukrainian-Americans in Michigan, and I am praying for them and their families. Putin’s invasion will cause massive destruction and endanger their loved ones. I stand ready to work across the aisle in Congress to pass sanctions on Russia and support Ukraine diplomatically during this dark hour.”

“Vladimir Putin is attacking Ukraine to oppress the free people who live there and to take their country from them. The consequences for this invasion must be swift and I stand ready to support harsh sanctions on Putin and his officials for this attack. The Biden Administration must not be weak and it must act with determined resolve to enforce sanctions. Finally, it must do everything it can to get every American citizen out of harm’s way as quickly as possible.”

“Michigan families are being affected by this deadly drug being trafficked across the southern border and smuggled into our communities. Last year, fentanyl was the leading cause of death for Americans 18-45 years old,” said Moolenaar. “Making fentanyl a Schedule 1 narcotic would provide law enforcement across the country with tools necessary to stop its distribution.”

"The collection of biometric information by the IRS would be drastic overreach. There is absolutely no need for the IRS to be collecting this type of information. I am proud to cosponsor this legislation that will prohibit the expansion of the IRS into Americans’ lives,” said Moolenaar.

"Agriculture is crucial to the success of Michigan, and many of our farmers today got their start learning valuable lessons in FFA. I have worked with Michigan FFA for many years and I have seen firsthand how well they are teaching the next generation of young leaders who will run farms of their own and help feed our nation," said Moolenaar.

“President Biden must make fentanyl and related substances a permanent Schedule 1 narcotic so law enforcement across this country has the tools to stop the deadly spread of this drug,” said Moolenaar. “At the same time, Biden must end his open border policies, which have made it easier for drug traffickers to bring drugs across the southern border. Michigan residents who live thousands of miles from the southern border are paying the price as deadly fentanyl is brought in to our communities.”

"Inflation is hurting Michigan residents, especially families and seniors. Their money is not going as far as it used to as they pay more for groceries and energy. President’s Biden’s massive federal spending, energy policies, and vaccine mandates, especially on truck drivers and health care workers, have all contributed to labor shortages and rising prices across the nation,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. "Before the pandemic, the U.S. had historically low unemployment and low inflation. Now, after only one year in office, President Biden has managed to drive up prices, cause labor and supply shortages, and discourage energy development.”

"Right now, TSA is allowing people to board flights even though ICE has issued a warrant for their arrest. That makes no sense and it needs to stop. The Crime Doesn’t Fly Act will end this practice, improve airline safety, and help restore the rule of law to the immigration process,” said Moolenaar.

"The Biden Administration must secure the border and enforce our nation's laws, especially for the thousands of lawbreaking migrants who fail to observe their Notice to Appear. Enforcing these notices is a crucial step in upholding the rule of law," said Moolenaar.
