"No one should be judged by the color of their skin and today's Supreme Court ruling reaffirms this essential truth,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

"We cannot allow the recipients of taxpayer dollars to receive grants for battery research and then turn around and work with China-based companies. Our country is in a competition against the Chinese Communist Party and we must have guardrails that protect our research dollars, our intellectual property, and the innovation funded by hardworking men and women who pay taxes. Companies like Gotion, which is based in China, have no business receiving federal funding," said Moolenaar.

"When our country moved from typewriters to personal computers, we did not need rules from the executive branch forcing typewriters from the market. Yet, the Department of Energy has proposed regulations on washing machines that would push affordable options for Michigan families out of the market while making it harder to wash clothes," said Moolenaar. "My amendment is a win for clean clothes, consumer choice, and stopping another burdensome regulation from the Biden administration.”

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I voted to move this funding forward because it will help Michigan communities and residents. Midland County has faced flooding problems for decades and the funding in this bill will help it improve stormwater drainage and build a more resilient watershed,” said Moolenaar.

"President Biden's overreaching policies are targeting the gas stoves thousands of Michigan residents rely on and like having in their homes. His administration should abandon its rulemaking and let Americans choose the stoves that are best for them and where they live. President Biden’s energy policies have hurt our country and made energy more expensive. That is why I voted to stop him from banning new gas stoves," said Moolenaar.

"Paul Whelan, a former Marine, has been unjustly imprisoned for more than four years and it is time for him to be released and reunited with his family. All of us in Michigan are heartbroken that he continues to be held captive by Vladimir Putin's corrupt government," said Moolenaar. 

“Gotion has not disclosed the materials it submitted to CFIUS and has not released the NDAs it forced Michigan officials to sign. While it insists on secrecy, one document everyone has seen is Gotion High Tech's articles of association where it pledges allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party and says it will carry out party activities. Today’s announcement from Gotion is not an approval from CFIUS, but another example of the broken CFIUS process where the government claims deals are outside its jurisdiction. Last year, CFIUS said it had no jurisdiction to block a CCP-affiliated company from buying farmland less than 15 miles from an Air Force base in North Dakota. The military and the local community had to stop the deal because CFIUS failed to protect our nation’s security,” said Moolenaar.

"Under President Biden's open border policies, there has been a surge in the number of migrants who have illegally crossed the U.S.-Canada border, with human trafficking and drug smuggling occuring more frequently. This is unacceptable," said Moolenaar. "I am proud to join the Northern Border Security Caucus and work with my colleagues to secure the northern border and protect our communities."
