Moolenaar Votes to Authorize Biden Impeachment Inquiry
Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted to authorize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. The vote follows months of Congressional investigations into the Biden family’s financial dealings, which have found concerning links between President Biden, members of his family, and foreign business associates.
“I believe the allegations made against President Biden need to be further investigated. Today’s vote is the beginning of the process and will give House committees the authorization they need to continue their investigation. The House of Representatives has a responsibility to uncover all the facts of this matter and follow them where they lead,” said Moolenaar.
Since 2021, President Biden’s connection with his son’s overseas business dealings has come under scrutiny. The White House has claimed the president never spoke to his son about his foreign business deals. However, the investigations conducted by the House of Representatives found that President Biden spoke with his son’s business partners and uncovered direct payments from Biden family members to the president.
The House of Representatives has the authority to impeach outlined in Article I Section II of the U.S. Constitution, which reads, “The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”
Article II Section IV of the U.S. Constitution states, “The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
