"Soleimani worked with terrorists to kill and maim hundreds of American servicemembers and he was meeting with the group that attacked our embassy in Baghdad. For decades, he helped plan attacks on innocent people around the world. In the past three months, President Trump and the U.S. military have successfully brought to justice Soleimani and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The world is safer with these evil men removed and they will never be able to harm innocent people again."

"Hardworking men and women in Michigan are enjoying a strong economy right now with rising wages and low unemployment. The USMCA is another win for those workers because it levels the playing field for manufacturing and makes our country more competitive with our neighbors. This agreement also helps Michigan farmers, especially our dairy farmers in the Fourth District, by opening new markets for them to sell their products."

"My constituents elected me to get things done and when they look at what the Democrats are doing in Washington, they see partisanship instead of solutions that will make a difference in their lives. It is unfortunate that Democrats put bipartisan Michigan priorities on hold and waited until the last minute to finish crucial bills that pay our military, protect the Great Lakes, fund the construction of a new Soo Lock, and finalize the new trade deal with Canada and Mexico that will level the playing field for hardworking Michigan residents."

“This is a historic day. For the first time in decades, legislation funding the construction of a new Soo lock is on track to become law. This is a major priority for our state and as our state’s senior member of the House Appropriations Committee I have worked hard to get this funding through Congress. A new lock will create jobs and help ensure Great Lakes shipping can move the raw materials needed for American manufacturing and Michigan-made products.”

“I have seen firsthand the positive work EightCap does locally here in mid Michigan. It is outstanding to see that effort recognized with this grant which will help EightCap offer educational opportunities to young children in our communities.”

“Our men and women in uniform are on the frontlines of keeping our nation safe so I am proud to support a pay raise for them and their families. This national security legislation will also give our troops the resources and equipment they need to carry out their missions and keep the American people safe from the dangerous threats in our world.”

“The USMCA is a tremendous victory for the American people and President Trump. This new trade agreement with our neighbors will benefit Michigan workers and Michigan farmers. We have the best workers in the world and this agreement will help ensure they are competing against the competition on a level playing field, especially in manufacturing. It will also open new markets for our farmers so they sell more Michigan-grown food to our neighbors. It has been nearly a year since this agreement was first signed and I hope the House will schedule a vote on it before the end of the year.”

“Residents in mid and northern Michigan sometimes have to travel long distances to meet with a doctor because there is not one in their area. It is my hope that this legislation will result in better care for patients, with more doctors living and working closer to those they care for in our rural communities where they are needed most.”

“We have outstanding minor league teams in Michigan who do tremendous charitable work in their communities and provide a fun and affordable entertainment experience for families. Their partnership with Major League Baseball is exciting for their communities and their fans, and I hope teams in Michigan and across the nation will be able to keep their affiliations."

“Democrats have wanted to impeach President Trump since he took office instead of working with him to help our country. Today, they continue to push for impeachment while putting the real concerns of hardworking Michigan residents on the backburner. Speaker Pelosi has not scheduled a vote on a new trade agreement with Mexico and Canada that will help Michigan farmers and create jobs in manufacturing. There is also no timetable on finalizing 2020 funding for our men and women serving overseas, the construction of a new lock at the Soo Locks, or the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. The delays and inaction on these key priorities creates uncertainty for those serving our nation, and these vital issues deserve to be finished instead of House Democrats’ partisan push for impeachment.”
