“This weekend’s cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline demonstrates the vital role pipelines play in providing Americans with reliable, affordable energy. Pipelines are the safest way to transport energy and it’s wrong to shut them down. President Biden should be pursuing every energy option our country has and he should immediately allow construction of the Keystone Pipeline to move forward, ensuring more energy for our nation,” said Congressman Moolenaar. “It is also important to increase cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and make sure we protect Americans from those who would do us harm.”

“President Biden currently gives Americans more reasons to stay home instead of creating job opportunities that will help them provide for their families. There are ‘Help Wanted’ signs in small businesses across Michigan because while they are open and working hard, President Biden is taking their tax dollars and paying extra money to those at home,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Another major factor is the Biden Administration’s decision to disregard the science that showed it was safe for schools to reopen months ago. This has hurt students' educational development and forced their parents to stay home. It’s time to end these policies and allow Americans to choose the economic and educational opportunities that are best for them and their families.”

“When Joe Biden was vice president he oversaw the slowest economic recovery in modern American history. His proposals tonight, including his tax hikes, would be more of the same, hurting Michigan’s economy and slowing the recovery. We are already seeing employers in mid and northern Michigan have problems hiring workers because the $2 trillion spending bill President Biden signed in March pays people an extra $300 a week to stay home instead of going to work. “I would also like to invest in our nation’s infrastructure, but President Biden has proposed cutting the Army Corps of Engineers’ annual budget by a billion dollars. We need the Army Corps to be fully funded so it can manage Great Lakes water levels, stop Asian carp and invasive species, and build a new lock at the Soo Locks. I will be working to stop Biden’s cut to the Army Corps so it has the resources it needs to invest in infrastructure and support the Great Lakes.”

"This grant will support schools in Montcalm County as they teach leadership skills and resilience to students in an effort to prevent substance abuse and reduce the risk of young people using drugs,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Many communities in Michigan have been affected by the opioid crisis or other forms of substance abuse. The Drug-Free Communities Support Program will help educate young people and their families to prevent abuse and keep residents in the Montcalm area safe and healthy."

“The early childhood programs like those facilitated by MMCAA and EightCAP support the needs of children and families in our communities,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “I have visited Head Start classrooms in the Fourth District and I know the people there work hard to provide children with important lessons and a safe learning environment. These grants will help MMCAA and EightCAP continue to provide essential services.”

“Having our nation’s capital in an independent district that is neutral and not part of any state has served our nation well for more than 200 years. The Constitution says that the nation’s capital should be a federal district, and not a state. This unconstitutional bill would dramatically change the capital of our nation and that’s why I voted against it,” said Moolenaar.

“This legislation is vital to the fight against the opioid epidemic and it will help law enforcement keep fentanyl and related drugs off the streets so our communities stay safe,” said Congressman Moolenaar. "The opioid crisis has hurt families across mid and northern Michigan, and this legislation will help stop the flow of fentanyl and fentanyl analogues that are brought into the United States from other countries."

"Protecting the Great Lakes is a top priority for Michigan residents and this grant will help CMU continue its vital research on the health of plants, animals, and water quality in the Great Lakes' coastal wetlands,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “I have advocated for funding for the GLRI as a member of the House Appropriations Committee so projects like this can help protect the Great Lakes for the enjoyment of Michigan families and future generations.”
“Dam failures like this can never happen again,” said Reps. Moolenaar and Dingell. “That is why last week we reintroduced our National Dam and Hydropower Safety Act to enhance safety operation requirements nationwide, modernize existing infrastructure, and improve communications between FERC and the states. While FERC’s action today makes it clear to future potential violators they will face serious consequences, a fine that comes after the fact does very little for the people who had their homes and businesses washed away. It’s clear that FERC needs enhanced tools to address this problem, protect our communities, and hold reckless dam operators like Boyce Hydro truly accountable. Our legislation will help improve those tools and prevent these tragedies from happening in the future.”

“It is an honor to serve the veterans of the Fourth District, and I appreciate this special recognition from the Roscommon County Veterans Affairs Office for the work my team and I have done for veterans when they have issues with the federal government,” said Congressman Moolenaar. "I hope veterans and their families who need help with the VA, or another federal agency, will contact my office for assistance.”
