For over two hundred years, the men and women of the United States military have protected us and defended American values at home and abroad. We must commit to a strong national defense in order to respond to challenges from countries like China and Russia, deter rogue states like Iran and North Korea, and defeat violent extremists who know no borders.
The men and women of our Armed Forces deserve the best resources and support possible to carry out their mission to keep America safe. I am committed to ensuring our troops have the tools and training they need to be effective wherever and whenever they are called upon.

"It is unacceptable that research funding is going to companies that work with the CCP. So I wrote this new policy to help stop it. Our country is in a competition against the CCP and we must make sure research and innovation funded by the American people benefits America and not China. Companies, including Gotion Inc., that are directly linked to the CCP have no business receiving federal research funding," said Moolenaar.

Unfortunately, state and local leaders in Lansing, Mecosta County, and the MEDC have ignored numerous warnings about the national security risks of doing business with CCP-affiliated companies, including Gotion. These leaders need to take these warnings seriously and stop the Gotion project,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

We can never allow federal officials to duck their responsibility to stop activities that are harmful to our country. They must examine and stop land purchases by CCP-affiliated individuals and companies. I am proud to introduce this legislation to provide CFIUS with the jurisdiction it needs to stop the CCP’s efforts to build factories, purchase land, and acquire influence over America,” said Moolenaar.

There is no doubt that Iran, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. We will do everything we can to make sure that never happens,” said Moolenaar.

“Over the past year, we have learned about the very concerning ties Gotion has with the Chinese Communist Party, including its parent company making products for the Chinese military, and the son of a CCP official leading Gotion’s American operations. The CCP will use any form of leverage it has to pursue its agenda and further its goals against the United States,” said Moolenaar. “The Gotion project is still not in the best interest of Michigan and should be stopped.”

Congressman John Moolenaar and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) have sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urging her and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to review the ownership of Gotion Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech, which is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
