Moolenaar Amendment to Prohibit EPA Permits for CCP Companies Passes House of Representatives
Today, the House of Representatives unanimously included Congressman John Moolenaar’s amendment to water permitting legislation that will streamline the federal permitting process and protect America’s natural resources. Moolenaar’s amendment, which passed by voice vote, would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from awarding water permits to companies and subsidiaries that are controlled by foreign countries of concern. Those countries are China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
“My amendment protects Michigan’s natural resources from being used by companies that are controlled by our nation’s foreign adversaries and it prohibits the EPA from issuing them any water permits. Under no circumstance should CCP-affiliated companies like Gotion be allowed to use Michigan’s water. This is commonsense legislation and I encourage the Senate to immediately pass this bill,” said Moolenaar.
Moolenaar spoke on the House floor in support of his amendment earlier today. The entire bill, the Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act, was passed by the House on a largely party-line vote.
