Moolenaar, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, noted the committee's responsibility for overseeing agencies and setting spending priorities, "and the U.S. (Department of Agriculture) is part of that process," the congressman said.
"Congressman Moolenaar has been a great friend of agriculture in his two years in Congress and has represented us well on the House Agriculture Committee," Molhoek said. "He's fought hard to improve the tax code for Michigan farmers, voting to make permanent Section 179 (depreciation) and voting to repeal the death tax. He's stood behind biotechnology and voted with Farm Bureau on a new GMO labeling law that prevented a patchwork of differing state-level laws."
