It is good to see the Senate confirm Sonny Perdue to lead the Department of Agriculture. Agriculture is vital to Michigan and I look forward to working with the new secretary on the issues facing farmers and rural communities throughout our state.

This week, Congressman John Moolenaar honored Jack Telfer, the retiring editor of the Midland Daily News, with a tribute in the Congressional Record. Telfer has worked at the Daily News since 1991 and in 2016 he led the publication to the Michigan Press Association Newspaper of the Year award for its circulation category.
