Moolenaar Votes to Extend Children's Health Insurance Program

January 18, 2018

Tonight, the House of Representatives passed legislation extending the Children's Health Insurance Program for six years. The extension passed in today's legislation is the longest extension in the history of the CHIP program.

The legislation passed today also keeps the government open through February 16 and allows for leaders to negotiate solutions on some of the larger issues facing the country.

Congressman John Moolenaar voted for the legislation and made the following statement:

"Extending the Children's Health Insurance Program means more than 100,000 Michigan children will have health insurance. This is an important program and it's one that Republicans and Democrats have both supported in years past.

"This legislation keeps the government open, funds our national security, and pays our troops. It's responsible and Democrats should support it."
