"Today, Americans mourn the loss of United States Capitol Police Officer William Evans, who was killed this afternoon at the Capitol," said Congressman John Moolenaar. "I am praying for his family, friends, and colleagues, and hoping that the other injured officer will be able to make a full recovery. This tragedy is another reminder of the risks the brave men and women in law enforcement face each day and we will always be grateful for all they do to keep us safe."
Congressman John Moolenaar is a cosponsor of House Resolution 153, which recognizes and condemns the increase in hate crimes and violence against Asian-American and Pacific Islanders in the United States throughout the last year. The resolution was introduced last month by Congresswoman Michelle Steel (R-CA), the first Korean-American woman elected to Congress. Congressman Moolenaar cosponsored the resolution on March 3.
Congressman John Moolenaar has signed on as a co-sponsor of the bipartisan GRUB Act, which would reimburse National Guard members deployed to Washington D.C. who had to pay for their own meals because of food quality concerns.
