“The NO GOTION Act is a simple three-page bill that will prohibit CCP-affiliated companies, including Gotion, from receiving the federal tax dollars of hardworking American families. If America is going to have a secure energy supply, we cannot give federal tax credits to CCP-controlled companies and allow them to expand their influence in the U.S.,” said Moolenaar. “Quite simply, the tax dollars of the American people should not be used to pad the profits of a company beholden to the CCP.” 

In the letter, Moolenaar asks Wray a series of questions related to Chinese nationals and the Gotion facility that has been proposed in Green Charter Township in Mecosta County.

"It is unacceptable that research funding is going to companies that work with the CCP. So I wrote this new policy to help stop it. Our country is in a competition against the CCP and we must make sure research and innovation funded by the American people benefits America and not China. Companies, including Gotion Inc., that are directly linked to the CCP have no business receiving federal research funding," said Moolenaar.

“I believe Mike Johnson has the skills and respect needed to lead the House of Representatives and move this country forward. Michigan families are dealing with the high costs of President Biden’s policies every day as they pay more for everything they buy. To help them, the House must rein in Biden’s runaway spending and inflation. I look forward to working with Speaker Johnson on this issue and more, including border security and stopping the Chinese Communist Party’s influence in America,” said Moolenaar.

“The FBI Director’s warning of how CCP companies buy land and use industrial sites for espionage in the United States is yet another alarm bell for the people of Michigan. Unfortunately, state and local leaders in Lansing, Mecosta County, and the MEDC have ignored numerous warnings about the national security risks of doing business with CCP-affiliated companies, including Gotion. These leaders need to take these warnings seriously and stop the Gotion project,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.  

“Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of our nation, but coordinated activities supporting Hamas, and intimidating and endangering other citizens have no place in our lawful society. Your department plays a critical role in enforcing the equal application of the law and safeguarding our nation's security. In that regard, we want to know what steps are being taken by the Department of Justice to investigate Hamas supporters in the United States, as well as the perpetrators of anti-Semitic violence in cities and school campuses across the nation.”

“Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorist activities in the world, killing innocent people, including Americans. It was disgraceful for President Biden to even promise this $6 billion to Iran in the first place. I am supporting this legislation because it will ensure the funds are permanently frozen and that Iran will never have them,” said Moolenaar.

“The Chinese Communist Party is the No. 1 economic adversary of the United States. We can never allow federal officials to duck their responsibility to stop activities that are harmful to our country. They must examine and stop land purchases by CCP-affiliated individuals and companies. I am proud to introduce this legislation to provide CFIUS with the jurisdiction it needs to stop the CCP’s efforts to build factories, purchase land, and acquire influence over America,” said Moolenaar.
