“Under President Biden, out-of-control spending has become the norm, but today’s appropriations bill serves as an important step to get America back on track. This legislation will cut wasteful spending at federal agencies and ensure our veterans are taken care of,” said Moolenaar “I am also proud my work on the House Appropriations Committee to bring vital funding to the Second District to benefit our communities. This funding will address flooding issues in Midland County, renovate the fire house in Sparta, build new housing in Cadillac, build a park in Shelby, and help the Saginaw Chippewa tribe renovate its water treatment facilities.”

“My legislation to prevent TB outbreaks will save lives and help families avoid tragedies like the one we had in Michigan with Shandra Eisenga. It was wonderful to be joined by Shandra’s family today, I am thankful to my colleagues for considering these bills. I will continue my work to make sure this legislation moves forward in Congress,” said Moolenaar, after the hearing.

“For months, Gotion supporters have argued that one reason Gotion Inc. should be allowed to build in Mecosta County is because part of the company is owned by Volkswagen. Now we know that Volkswagen has helped the CCP carry out the deadly persecution of religious people in China. This news is another example of how CCP-affiliated companies can be coerced into doing the bidding of the CCP and is further evidence of why it would be a mistake to allow Gotion to build a facility in Michigan. These companies have participated in genocide, and state and local officials should end the Gotion project in Michigan immediately,” said Moolenaar.

“Taiwan is a tremendous ally to the United States, and it is a strong economic partner that makes many products the American people rely on every day. Sadly, the people of Taiwan face daily harassment and intimidation from the Chinese Communist Party, and CCP leader Xi Jinping has made no secret of his desire to oppress the people of Taiwan. I look forward to meeting with Taiwanese leaders this week, and learning more on how the American and Taiwanese people can strengthen our alliance against the CCP's aggression,” said Moolenaar.

“I am proud to have the support of more Michigan agriculture groups for my legislation to help farmers. The Department of Labor has been raising costs on farmers for years and these unprecedented increases are making it difficult for them to keep working. Farmers and ag groups support my bill because it will help ensure they can pay a reliable work force and still afford to make ends meet,” said Moolenaar.

“I am honored to receive this award from our community health centers, who are an essential resource for Michigan families, especially in rural communities. I will continue my advocacy for them on the House Appropriations Committee so they can continue to provide vital health care services to residents for years to come,” Moolenaar said after receiving the award.

“I have reviewed the classified information and while it is concerning for our national security, there is no imminent danger to the American people and there is no need for panic. I hope the information will be declassified when it is safe to do so, and then Congress can publicly debate how to respond. In the weeks and months ahead, I will continue my work in Congress to keep America safe and make sure our military has the resources it needs to defeat our enemies,” said Moolenaar.

"Ever since Secretary Yellen and President Biden took office, their policies have hurt Michigan seniors, families, and small businesses with higher prices, record inflation, and burdensome regulations. Unfortunately, nothing Secretary Yellen says today in Michigan will make life easier for Michigan residents who are paying more for everything they buy,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Secretary Yellen misled Americans when she said inflation would be transitory and disappear quickly. She has no credibility on the economy now.”

“Secretary Mayorkas has willfully refused to comply with the law, repeatedly lied to Congress by claiming the border is secure, and made it harder for Border Patrol agents to enforce the law. The policies he has implemented through executive action have helped drug cartels pour fentanyl into our communities and kill our loved ones, while also making it easier for the cartels to get away with human trafficking and the sexual assault of women and girls,” said Moolenaar. “On his first day in office, President Biden reversed border policies that were working and now he is leaving Secretary Mayorkas holding the bag when he knows he is truly the one who has made our country a more dangerous place for all Americans.”

“The passing of Shandra Eisenga was a preventable tragedy caused by a lack of oversight and accountability for tissue donation services. Nobody should have to go through what Shandra and her family experienced. The Shandra Eisenga Human Cell and Tissue Product Safety Act will stop future TB outbreaks and honor Shandra’s legacy. Thank you to Senator Peters and my colleagues for their support of this legislation,” said Congressman Moolenaar.
