“This legislation will help ensure that cost won't stop someone from being tested for Coronavirus, and testing is critical to understanding the full scope of the situation. We also need to make sure that Americans who are affected by this virus know that they will have the leave-time they need to recover. They should not go to work because then they might transmit the virus to another person."

"These steps will promote public health during this serious time for our nation while ensuring that my team and I can continue the important work we do for Michigan and the 700,000 residents of Michigan's Fourth District. “This spring, construction will begin on a new lock at the Soo Locks. This is a major infrastructure project for our nation and it is critical to ensuring Great Lakes shipping continues to support manufacturing and millions of jobs in Michigan and across the country. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and the support of my colleagues we are finally building a new lock at the Soo. I will continue to work in Congress to make sure there is accountability in meeting the goals of this project and to pass annual funding to finish construction."

"President Trump kept his promise to get a better trade deal with Mexico and Canada and he delivered. I met with him on Air Force One today, and he is committed to delivering on more priorities for our state. He understands how important it is to fund the GLRI and stop invasive species from entering the Great Lakes. Most importantly, he wants to make sure the strong economy continues to grow with more jobs and higher wages for Michigan workers."

“President Trump has kept his promise to fight for a better deal for our state. This new trade agreement is a win for agriculture and manufacturing that opens new markets for Michigan farmers and creates more opportunities for Michigan-made goods. The economy is strong right now with low unemployment and raising wages, and I believe Michigan workers will continue to thrive under this new agreement because they’re the best in the world.”

“While the Coronavirus in China is a serious concern, fentanyl from China is even more deadly. Last summer, law enforcement seized an amount of fentanyl from China that was enough to kill 14 million people. Today’s emergency extension of the comprehensive ban on fentanyl will enable law enforcement to continue these seizures and fully prosecute fentanyl producers and traffickers. Stopping this flow of drugs is crucial to ending the opioid epidemic and saving the lives of our loved ones in mid and northern Michigan.”
