A Red Barn on a Farm
As a lifelong resident of mid and northern Michigan, I understand the importance of the agriculture industry to the state. Agriculture is the economic backbone of many communities throughout Michigan’s Fourth Congressional District and has been instrumental in the state’s economic recovery.

"Agriculture is crucial to the success of Michigan, and many of our farmers today got their start learning valuable lessons in FFA. I have worked with Michigan FFA for many years and I have seen firsthand how well they are teaching the next generation of young leaders who will run farms of their own and help feed our nation," said Moolenaar.

On July 22-24, I visited our nation's southern border in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas to meet with law enforcement officials there and see firsthand what is happening on the border. The sad truth is the Biden Administration’s policies are not working, and there is a crisis currently occurring as thousands of immigrants illegally cross the border each day. The whole situation is unsustainable and threatens our nation’s public safety, while also being unfair to hardworking people who legally come to the United States.

"In a few short months, President Biden and the Democrats have already spent trillions of dollars and now the bill is coming due for Michigan residents who have to pay rising costs for groceries, gas, building materials, and other products. This is especially difficult for seniors and families. I will be working to stop President Biden's six trillion dollar budget and other partisan spending proposals from Democrats that would lead to more inflation."

With new market access to Canada for dairy farmers and a more level playing field for Michigan workers, the USMCA will benefit the economy and create jobs,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Michigan workers are the best in the world and this agreement increases protections for them while cutting red tape for small businesses who sell Michigan-made products in Canada and Mexico. The USMCA is a strong trade agreement for the 21st century that will move our state and our country forward.

“This funding will help take care of vulnerable people in mid and northern Michigan,” said Congressman John Moolenaar, who voted for the CARES Act in March. “The crisis has increased food and shelter concerns for many people in our state and this will help address those issues with funding for local organizations who know our communities well."
