“Extending the Children’s Health Insurance Program means more than 100,000 Michigan children will have health insurance. This is an important program and it’s one that Republicans and Democrats have both supported in years past."

"Many Michigan residents are living paycheck to paycheck and next month those paychecks are going to be bigger. They will have extra money in each paycheck to spend here in our communities and to provide for their families."

Lower tax rates, a bigger standard deduction, a bigger child tax credit, and bigger paychecks, means more money for Michigan families, small businesses and our communities. As one resident from Roscommon told me, “Any time a family can keep more of their own earnings and spend it as they see fit, it is a good thing.” I could not agree more and I am proud to support real tax relief for Michigan families.

Tax reform is already benefiting hardworking Michigan residents. Companies like AT&T are using the money they save to invest in their employees and our country. With the lower rates, higher standard deductions, and a $2,000 child tax credit, Michigan residents will have higher wages and pay less in taxes, keeping more of their own money.

As always, I strongly support the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. Just as a driver’s license is valid across state lines, this legislation will allow those who have valid permits to carry across state lines. The bill also improves the background check system so states will submit more records and help stop those who are already legally prohibited from buying a gun.

There is strong bipartisan support for moving our country’s embassy to Jerusalem. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and Jerusalem is its capital city. By moving the American embassy to Jerusalem, the United States reaffirms its historic alliance with Israel.

Tax reform is tax relief for middle class families and Main Street, bigger paychecks, more jobs and a simpler, fairer system. This is the first major tax reform since 1986 and I will continue to fight for tax relief for hardworking Michigan families.
