Congressman John Moolenaar is a cosponsor of House Resolution 153, which recognizes and condemns the increase in hate crimes and violence against Asian-American and Pacific Islanders in the United States throughout the last year. The resolution was introduced last month by Congresswoman Michelle Steel (R-CA), the first Korean-American woman elected to Congress. Congressman Moolenaar cosponsored the resolution on March 3.

“Small businesses have been hurt by the pandemic and state enforced closures, and while the best way for them to recover is for the state to allow them to fully reopen, I know many of them are still hurting and need help,” said Congressman Moolenaar. “The Paycheck Protection Program helped thousands of Michigan small businesses last year and there is still funding left over to help those who need additional relief. State officials have created continued uncertainty with restrictions, and last month 120,000 residents gave up looking for work. Moolenaar Supports Legislation to Provide Reimbursement to National Guard Members Serving at the U.S. Capitol

Congressman John Moolenaar has signed on as a co-sponsor of the bipartisan GRUB Act, which would reimburse National Guard members deployed to Washington D.C. who had to pay for their own meals because of food quality concerns. This legislation was introduced yesterday in response to reports from Michigan National Guard members who documented undercooked and unsafe food served to them during their time serving at the U.S. Capitol.

Republicans have repeatedly proposed legislation requiring schools to re-open immediately, but Democrats have rejected it despite clear evidence school closures are hurting students, with an increased risk of suicide and a decline in academic performance.
