Jobs and the Economy

Unnecessary and burdensome regulations have hindered economic growth and job creation in America. That is why I am fighting for smarter, pro-growth policies that get government out of the way and help small businesses expand and hire new workers. In fact, I have supported overturning numerous regulations written by unelected bureaucrats who do not understand the negative consequences of the rules they wrote.
Michigan has a talented workforce and world-leading manufacturing base, and we can keep it that way by promoting opportunities in the skilled trades. I am committed to ensuring residents have the opportunity to learn career and technical skills that are vital to applying for good-paying jobs.

“The USMCA helps Michigan workers and farmers by leveling the playing field in manufacturing and agriculture and it will help Michigan farmers and companies sell more Michigan-made goods in new markets,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “I have been a strong supporter of the USMCA because it benefits Michigan and I will continue working to make sure our partners in Canada and Mexico meets the obligations of the agreement.”

"These grants will help MBS and Capital Airport serve Michigan residents and welcome visitors during the busy summer travel season in our state,” said Congressman John Moolenaar, who voted for the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act when it passed the House of Representatives last year.

"In a few short months, President Biden and the Democrats have already spent trillions of dollars and now the bill is coming due for Michigan residents who have to pay rising costs for groceries, gas, building materials, and other products. This is especially difficult for seniors and families. I will be working to stop President Biden's six trillion dollar budget and other partisan spending proposals from Democrats that would lead to more inflation."

“The economy is coming back but Michigan small businesses are struggling and ’Help Wanted’ signs are posted all over our region as the Biden Administration continues to pay extra money to people who are not working. It’s unfair for small businesses who have to compete against the Biden Administration when they are looking to hire, and this extra benefit discourages work at a time when there are a lot of job opportunities,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.

"With Democrats in Washington spending trillions of dollars, inflation is a growing problem and prices are rising. This weekend, inflation will force Michigan residents to pay more for gas and groceries when they visit with family and friends," said Congressman John Moolenaar. "These are the highest gas prices in seven years, and the Democrats' policies harm American energy production while raising the cost of living on working families more than anyone else. I will continue to advocate for American energy independence and oppose harmful federal spending that distorts the economy and raises prices on Michigan families."

“STEM education is critical to preparing students for future opportunities that include good-paying jobs and roles in scientific research,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “I voted for these bills because it will help prepare students for those opportunities and continue our nation's leadership in scientific research and innovation.”

“For many families, child care providers play a critical role in supporting parents and early childhood development. There have been child care shortages in rural areas, so this bill will help level the playing field and allow non-profit providers to apply for loans that will help them expand their facilities and offer new child care opportunities for Michigan families," said Congressman Moolenaar.

“When President Biden and Democrats spent $2 trillion in March, they pushed out extra money to people who are not working even though there are millions of job openings and gave billions to bail out states and cities which now have surpluses. Their $2 trillion in spending is distorting the economy, hurting small businesses, and making hardworking Michigan residents pay more for the products they use every day,” said Congressman John Moolenaar.
“President Biden’s anti-pipeline stance is also contributing to the rise in gas prices and as we have seen this week pipelines are vital to ensuring Americans have a affordable, reliable energy. I will be working to stop these harmful economic policies so more Americans can go back to work, small businesses can grow and, hopefully, prices for everyday goods will be more stable.”

“President Biden currently gives Americans more reasons to stay home instead of creating job opportunities that will help them provide for their families. There are ‘Help Wanted’ signs in small businesses across Michigan because while they are open and working hard, President Biden is taking their tax dollars and paying extra money to those at home,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Another major factor is the Biden Administration’s decision to disregard the science that showed it was safe for schools to reopen months ago. This has hurt students' educational development and forced their parents to stay home. It’s time to end these policies and allow Americans to choose the economic and educational opportunities that are best for them and their families.”
