"President Trump delivered a powerful message in recognition of our nation's 250th birthday and our renewed commitment to preserving the American dream for future generations. After struggling for years to make ends meet under the previous administration, the American people are finally starting to see relief with inflation cooling from record highs, and historic tax cuts for working families in Michigan," said Moolenaar. "The President spoke clearly about our work to secure investment into our nation and workers, reinvigorate American industry, bring in good jobs, and allow us to innovate. His address also emphasized the important work of our law enforcement agencies to secure our border and remove criminal illegal immigrants from our communities. Thanks to President Trump's leadership abroad, the United States is stronger today than it was before he retook office, and our military is more capable than ever to deter our adversaries."

"Doctor Smith serves rural Michigan residents every day and understands the challenges facing rural healthcare providers. Last year, President Trump signed into law the Rural Health Transformation Program through the One Big Beautiful Bill. This landmark program is aimed to improve health outcomes for rural residents, increase access to vital care, as well as attract and retain high-quality medical professionals like Doctor Smith to rural Michigan. I am grateful Doctor Smith has accepted my invitation to join me for President Trump's State of the Union Address to hear firsthand the work we are doing to get our nation back on track," said Moolenaar.

"Today's bills fund important programs that support Michigan families. They deliver a pay raise for our brave men and women in the military, bolster funding for rural health care, and strengthen our border security," said Moolenaar. "They also invest in housing to make it affordable again."

“Extending a COVID-era subsidy for those making more than 400 percent of the poverty level is wrong and will only increase health care costs. Families deserve a lower cost of care, but this failed policy is not the answer,” said Moolenaar. “I am focusing on real reforms that increase competition, improve transparency, and protect taxpayers.” 

“Obamacare has forced health care costs through the roof. This legislation will help Michigan families choose the affordable health insurance they want,” said Moolenaar. "Additionally, we are lowering drug costs for Michigan seniors by requiring middlemen to be transparent and honest about their pricing."

“I am grateful for the overwhelming bipartisan support for our legislation honoring Shandra's legacy. This bill will help prevent TB infections from bone grafts and save families from experiencing the pain and sadness that Shandra’s family has tragically endured. Our legislation accomplishes this by ensuring the FDA requires screening for TB and holds tissue suppliers responsible for infections they spread. I will continue my work in Congress to ensure this commonsense legislation is signed into law,” said Moolenaar.

"The tuberculosis outbreak in 2023 that tragically took the life of Shandra Eisenga should never have happened. Our bill honors Shandra's legacy by ensuring no one has to endure what she and her family went through. I am grateful for the bipartisan support of our bill, and I will continue my work to make it law to prevent future deadly TB outbreaks," said Moolenaar.
