“Attorney General Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from any current or future investigations into the 2016 presidential election is an important step toward ensuring that the FBI’s investigation is independent and has the trust of the American people.”

The attorney general should have disclosed his contact with Russian officials at his nomination hearing, even though the contact came as part of his work on the Senate Armed Services Committee. He should clarify the comment he made during his hearing and he should recuse himself from oversight of the FBI's investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 election.
