"The devastation caused by this historic flooding destroyed homes and upended the lives of so many residents,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “These residents need assistance that goes beyond what local and state government can provide, and I hope that the federal government will quickly approve the request so additional resources will be available for those in need. I have been communicating with federal officials throughout this process and I am encouraged by what I have heard from FEMA."

"This funding will help the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe fight the COVID-19 pandemic with more resources for prevention and mitigation,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “This has been a challenging time for tribal health care providers, just as it has been for rural providers, and that’s why I voted for funding like this which will help keep people safe."

"I have been meeting with residents in Midland and Gladwin counties this week and I know the incredible challenges our community will face in the weeks ahead. I appreciate Regional Administrator Joseph’s action on this emergency declaration request during this challenging time."

"Thank you to President Trump for his quick approval of the disaster declaration and to Governor Whitmer for quickly making the request,” said Congressman Moolenaar. “Tonight I spoke with FEMA Regional Administrator Joseph and he pledged to support the region. FEMA will have staff on the ground on Saturday to do assessments and I will be working with all of our local, state, and federal officials to help Michigan families recover from this tragedy."

"Mid Michigan residents pull together in challenging times and we will make it through this. Right now, the most important priority is staying safe, and I urge everyone to follow the advice of emergency responders who are protecting our community. I have been working with state and local officials throughout the day, and tonight I opened communication with FEMA as we prepare to assess the need for future assistance."

"I have been working hard to support funding for our health care professionals on the frontlines of this crisis and to protect Michigan families from the health and economic threats of the Coronavirus pandemic,” said Moolenaar. “In the past two months, I have supported direct payments to families, as well as billions of dollars for our small businesses, rural hospitals, states, and local governments. We should see how this funding helps our country first before pushing through another bill. The legislation proposed by Democrats this week would slow the economic recovery families need, burden small businesses, hurt jobs, and advance a liberal wishlist of ideas unrelated to the Coronavirus."

"Increasing testing is critical to tracking the spread of the Coronavirus, keeping Michigan residents safe, and helping re-open the economy,” said Moolenaar. “As new technology and testing capabilities are being produced, officials are working to ramp up distribution to places where supplies are needed most. This is vital to identifying people who are sick and saving lives."

“This funding will help take care of vulnerable people in mid and northern Michigan,” said Congressman John Moolenaar, who voted for the CARES Act in March. “The crisis has increased food and shelter concerns for many people in our state and this will help address those issues with funding for local organizations who know our communities well."

"The pandemic has created enormous challenges for rural health care, even in places that have not had a lot of cases,” said Congressmen John Moolenaar, Bill Huizenga and Jack Bergman in a joint statement this afternoon. “This funding will benefit Michigan residents and help public health officials respond to the crisis with a long-term response, while also addressing additional concerns in the community, including the ongoing opioid epidemic. We will continue to work and make sure Michigan’s rural health care providers have the resources they need to serve residents and make it through this difficult time."

“I wrote to Governor Whitmer on behalf of my constituents asking her to do this and I am glad she agreed with Michigan residents across the state who want to be safe while spending time outside,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “Right now, 28 percent of Michigan residents are worried about putting food on their tables during this pandemic and now they can purchase garden seeds in stores and go fishing by themselves. Michiganders cherish the outdoors, and these commonsense changes will allow them to safely enjoy more time outside.”
