USDA Announces Grant for Missaukee 9-1-1 System, Opioid Crisis Response
Today, the United States Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development announced a $150,000 grant to Missaukee County to improve the county's 9-1-1 dispatch system.
In its release, the USDA noted Missaukee County "participates in the Traverse Narcotics Team, a multi-jurisdictional drug task force consisting of law enforcement agencies from six other counties. The new dispatch system will improve communications to help combat the opioid crisis in the region."
Congressman John Moolenaar welcomed the news and made the following statement:
"This grant will go directly to the first responders on the front lines of the opioid crisis in northern Michigan. In an emergency, every second is valuable, and this improvement in 9-1-1 services will help save lives."
