Moolenaar Welcomes Grants for Fighting the Opioid Crisis

August 14, 2019

The federal Department of Health and Human Services recently announced two new grants in the Fourth District supporting the fight against the opioid epidemic.

HHS's Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $167,000 to Isabella Citizens for Health in Mount Pleasant and $167,000 to Mid Michigan Health Services in Houghton Lake.

Congressman John Moolenaar is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and serves on the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education subcommittee with oversight of HHS. He supported these grants as part of his work on the subcommittee and made the following statement:

"I am working in Congress to support first responders, health care professionals, and families in the fight against the opioid epidemic. This crisis has touched the lives of so many in our state and grants like these, which I supported through my work on the House Appropriations Committee, will help local leaders do what is best for their communities."
