Moolenaar Votes for Transparency on COVID’s Origins in China
Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for legislation that requires the Director of National Intelligence to submit a declassified report to Congress and the American public on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation passed with bipartisan support.
"As the Chinese Communist Party tries to hide the origins of COVID and blame others, the American people deserve to know how the pandemic began," said Moolenaar, a member of the House Select Committee on China. "Transparency in our government is one of the many traits that sets America apart from China’s oppressive government and we are at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history with the CCP. The American people should know the evidence that has been gathered on the origins of COVID-19.”
Today’s legislation (S. 619) passed the Senate unanimously on March 1. It now goes to President Biden for his signature.
The Department of Energy recently concluded the COVID-19 pandemic most likely originated from a lab leak in China. FBI Director Christopher Wray has also said the FBI believes COVID originated from a lab leak in Wuhan, China.
