Moolenaar Votes to Protect Michigan Families from IRS
Last night, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for legislation that would eliminate the $80 billion in funding that Democrats gave to the IRS in their partisan Inflation Reduction Act. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, this funding would result in higher tax revenue collected from low-income and middle-class Americans.
"The Biden administration wants to increase the size of the IRS and increase audits of low-income and middle-class Michigan families who are already struggling. Every family and small business owner dreads the possibility of an audit. They are costly, and the IRS frequently targets hardworking Americans who cannot afford to hire lawyers to fight back when the IRS is wrong," said Moolenaar. "I voted to end Biden’s extra money for the IRS because Michiganders cannot afford to have the IRS harassing them."
