Moolenaar Votes for Legislation to Honor World War II "Ghost Army"
Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for the Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act, when it was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. This legislation honors the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops and the 3133d Signal Services Company, commonly known as the Ghost Army, with the Congressional Gold Medal for their distinguished service during World War II. Moolenaar is a long-time supporter of this legislation. He supported it when it first passed the House last spring, and he is a co-sponsor of the bill.
"I am proud to support these incredible members of the Greatest Generation and honor their courage and service," said Congressman Moolenaar. "The bravery of the Ghost Army helped win World War II and secure a better future for generations to come."
The Ghost Army was an 1,100-member unit during World War II that was tasked with deceiving German military forces. Its success has been covered by a PBS documentary and by other national media outlets, including The Atlantic.
The Congressional Gold Medal is one of our nation's highest honors and it has been awarded to many veterans of World War II. More information on the legislation can be found here.
The legislation passed the Senate on December 15 and now goes to President Biden for his signature.
