Moolenaar Votes For American Energy Independence

March 30, 2023

Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for the Lower Energy Costs Act. This legislation would strengthen domestic energy production, and put America on the path to energy independence. Specifically, the bill would prohibit President Biden from banning fracking, require the administration to resume lease sales for energy projects, and repeal unnecessary taxes on energy producers that have increased energy prices. Additionally, this legislation would streamline the permitting process to ensure energy projects can move forward in a timely manner.

"The cost of living under President Biden has increased dramatically, in large part because of energy costs. Biden says he wants to make more products in America, but his actions on American energy say otherwise. He killed a pipeline on his first day in office and his administration just delayed tunnel construction for Line 5 for another year and a half. I voted for the Lower Energy Costs Act because it will help Michigan families, create jobs, and cut red tape so more energy is Made in the USA," said Congressman Moolenaar.
