Moolenaar Visits SK Saran Americas in Midland

Today, Congressman John Moolenaar visited SK Saran Americas in Midland. He toured the company's facility with Jay Kim, President of SK Global Chemical Americas, and Steve Persyn, Site Leader for SK Saran Americas, part of SK Global Chemical Americas.

The company employs more than 40 people at the Midland facility, and it showed Congressman Moolenaar about the products made there. The chemical resin produced by SK Saran Americas is the key ingredient in packaging used by a range of companies, including food producers and medical device makers, to preserve the integrity of their products. Over the past two years, SK Saran Americas has increased employment at the site by more than 20 percent and ramped up investment in product development.

Congressman Moolenaar is the co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Chemistry Caucus and has introduced the Sustainable Chemistry Research and Development Act to continue America's international leadership in research and innovation. He has also supported legislation promoting STEM education and the creation of higher-paying jobs for hardworking Michigan residents.

Congressman Moolenaar made the following statement on today's visit:

"Thank you to SK Saran for inviting me to see their facility here in Midland. It was outstanding to meet the hardworking employees in our community who make products that are used across the country and around the world. I will keep working in Congress to support policies that help Michigan workers and ensure America continues its international leadership in science, research and innovation."

Jay Kim, President of SK Global Chemical Americas, said:

"Thank you to Congressman Moolenaar for meeting with us today. He has been a leader in Congress, supporting STEM education and promoting policies that help our company continue to innovate and make products that meet the needs of our customers. Our operations in Midland are growing as SK strives to create long-term value for our employees, customers and the broader community."
