Moolenaar Supports Legislation to Repeal Military Vaccine Mandate and Give Raises to U.S. Service Members

December 8, 2022

This afternoon, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation includes a pay increase for U.S. service members and repeals the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Additionally, the legislation authorizes full funding to complete construction of a second freighter-sized lock at the Soo Locks.

"I am proud to support the courageous men and women of our military with increased pay and more resources for them and their families. This legislation also repeals the Biden administration's COVID vaccine mandate that drove many service members out of the military," said Moolenaar. "This legislation helps ensure the military has the tools it needs to keep the American people safe and meet the security challenges our country faces."

“This legislation also includes an important authorization for finishing the construction of a new lock at the Soo Locks. As Michigan’s senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will be working to make sure that Congress uses that authorization and includes money for lock construction in future funding bills. The Soo Locks are vital to the American economy, and I will be working to make sure the Army Corps of Engineers finishes this critical infrastructure project," added Moolenaar.
