Moolenaar Statement on Funding Priorities for 2020

March 11, 2019

Today, the White House released its budget proposal for the federal government's 2020 fiscal year. The proposal makes recommendations for funding federal departments, agencies and programs.

However, legislation funding the government is the work of the Appropriations Committee in each chamber.

Congressman John Moolenaar is Michigan's senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. He made the following statement today on his priorities for funding the government in the next fiscal year:

"Last year, we made incredible progress in funding the Army Corps, and having it include Soo Locks construction in its work plan. I successfully worked across the aisle on the Appropriations Committee to fund vital priorities including fighting the opioid crisis, expanding rural broadband access, and fully-funding the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. I look forward to continuing this important work for Michigan in the months ahead as Congress debates federal funding for 2020."
