Moolenaar: Secretary Cardona Unprepared to Stop CCP Influence in Education

Today, during a hearing on the Department of Education's 2024 budget request, Congressman John Moolenaar questioned Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on his awareness of the Chinese Communist Party's actions on influencing the American education system. The secretary did not have any details and was unprepared to discuss the topic. Secretary Cardona answered, "No, sir. I do not have any information around specific efforts to try to influence." 

"The Chinese Communist Party is actively working to influence our education system and children. Yet, Education Secretary Cardona is unaware and unprepared on how to counter CCP influence efforts, whether in the form of Confucius Institutes at colleges or in taking a stand against TikTok, a CCP spyware app. Cardona and the Biden administration need to wake up and take the CCP's efforts to influence U.S. education seriously," said Moolenaar.
