Moolenaar: Keystone XL Pipeline Would Have Supported Good-Paying Jobs
Today, the Obama Administration announced that it would not approve the building of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The project had been under federal review for more than seven years and had the support of business and labor organizations. Additionally, the U.S. Department of State concluded that the project would have minimal environmental impact.
Earlier this year, Representative John Moolenaar (R-Midland) voted for legislation that supported building the pipeline. He released the following statement today:
"Today, the Obama Administration rejected a project that would have supported good-paying jobs for hardworking Americans. Republicans and Democrats from across the country supported the Keystone XL Pipeline because it would have improved our nation's energy independence without raising taxes or adding to our debt. Today's announcement is a disappointment and it could result in higher energy prices in the future."
