Moolenaar on Inflation & Veep’s Visit to Michigan
Vice President Kamala Harris is heading to Michigan today where she will attend an event on climate change. However, earlier today, the latest inflation numbers came out and they showed that Michigan families are still paying some of the highest price increases in the past 40 years.
"Vice President Kamala Harris is bringing the Biden administration’s record of failure to Michigan, where families have dealt with soaring inflation for the past 18 months,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “This winter, the higher costs of Biden’s inflation have forced Michigan families and seniors to buy fewer groceries, lower their thermostats, and travel less. It may be a new year, but for Michigan families it is another month of higher prices under Biden and Harris. I will be working to rein in inflation and develop more American energy to get the country back on track."
Today, the Department of Labor announced that inflation is at 6.5 percent. This is the 19th consecutive month of inflation over 5.0 percent. Michigan families and seniors continue to face some of the highest inflation rates since the 1980s.
According to the Joint Economic Committee, since January 2021, Michiganders are paying an extra $712 per month due to inflation.
