MBS Receives Federal Grant for Taxiway Construction

July 2, 2019

Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a new $3.2 million grant for MBS International Airport for the purpose of taxiway construction. The funding comes from the department's Airport Improvement Program.

Congressman John Moolenaar is a member of the House Appropriations Committee which funds federal grant programs. He made the following statement on today's news:

"MBS helps connect Michigan residents with destinations across the country. This new funding will help the airport continue its outstanding service for the residents of mid and northern Michigan who enjoy flying out of an airport that serves our region."

MBS Airport Manager Jeff Nagel also made a statement, welcoming the grant:

"This project has been in the planning stages for nearly five years and I am thrilled that we're receiving this grant. The project will construct a new taxiway and also add a second connection into and out of the airline terminal ramp. This is great news for airport operations in the future."
