House Passes Energy Reform

December 3, 2015

Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act. The legislation is a major modernization of U.S. energy policy to reflect America's energy abundance and its new role as the world's leading producer of oil and to protect our nation's critical energy infrastructure.

Representative John Moolenaar (R-Midland) voted in favor of the legislation and made the following statement:

"The United States is the leading producer of oil and natural gas and today's legislation continues that progress. The bill passed today protects our electric grid from terrorism, cyberattacks, and weather events that could cause prolonged power outages. These reforms will benefit Michigan residents by helping to keep energy prices low for years to come."
