House Committee Passes Moolenaar Bill to Support Research and Innovation
Today, the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology passed legislation introduced by Congressman John Moolenaar and Congressman Dan Lipinski to improve research and innovation in chemistry. The legislation is titled the Sustainable Chemistry Research and Development Act of 2019 and it aims to coordinate federal activities in sustainable chemistry while encouraging industry, academia, nonprofits, and the general public to innovate and bring to market new sustainable chemicals, materials, products, and processes.
Congressman Moolenaar made the following statement on today’s news:
“The Sustainable Chemistry Research and Development Act will promote the safe production of products that millions of Americans use every day by improving coordination between the federal government, the private sector and the scientific community. We have incredible scientific talent in Michigan, and I am confident we will continue to be a world leader in research and sustainable chemistry for years to come. Thank you to my colleagues on the committee for their strong bipartisan support of this legislation, and I hope the entire House will take it up soon.”
