700 Days of Higher Gas Prices
Today marks the 700th consecutive day the national average gas price is above $3.00 per gallon. Comparatively, the national average gas price never rose above $3.00 per gallon for a single day from January 2017 to January 2021. Congressman John Moolenaar made the following statement regarding the higher prices:
"For the last 700 days, Michigan families have been forced to pay higher costs at the pump because of President Biden’s policies. He killed a pipeline project and thousands of American jobs on his first day in office, and has made it harder to produce energy here in our country. That is why I voted for the Lower Energy Costs Act. It will help Michigan families, create jobs, and cut red tape so more energy is Made in the USA."
According to publicly available Federal Reserve economic data, May 17, 2021 was when the national average gas price crossed above $3.00 per gallon. It has not been below that threshold since.

On March 30, 2023, Congressman Moolenaar voted for the Lower Energy Costs Act.
