Veterans Recognized, Thanked During Midland Ceremony

November 11, 2015

U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar said he presented the Purple Heart to two veterans this year. The award was introduced by George Washington in 1782 to recognize and foster actions of military merit.

"These veterans, they don't stop giving back even after leaving the service," Moolenaar said, adding they use the skills they learned in the military for their civilian jobs, as well as join community service organizations.
