One of the joys of serving as your congressman is honoring our current soldiers and veterans for their service to our country.

This month, I voted to give our troops their largest pay increase in six years. They make sacrifices every day to keep us safe and the raise they have earned is a small part of thanking them and their families for their service to our nation.

"To be accountable to you, I have made it a priority to be available, meeting constituents in all 15 counties of the district in 2016. At listening sessions, we discussed current events and your concerns about issues before Congress. President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran is dangerous for the American people and our allies around the world. Across Michigan’s Fourth District, I have heard from thousands of constituents and they are overwhelmingly opposed to this deal. Along with a bipartisan majority of Americans, they understand what the Obama Administration does not; this deal is bad for America.

With strong bipartisan support, the House has passed the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015. As I write in my op-ed, Michigan shoppers will enjoy knowing that there is an easy to understand standard that will tell them whether or not a product is engineered because they will know what to look for when they are grocery shopping.
