Mid Michigan Flood Resources
Our region is coming together to help those who have been affected by this tragedy. The devastation is heartbreaking, and I will be working to help residents recover and rebuild. I am already working with federal officials on how we can use federal resources to help those who are in need and I want to thank Regional FEMA Administrator James K. Joseph for coming to mid Michigan on May 23rd and supporting the community. I have been in Midland, Sanford, and Gladwin and I have seen first-hand the enormous challenges that are ahead of us. Our whole area has received support from individuals, businesses, and nonprofits from across the state and we are grateful for all of it.
The entire Michigan delegation in Congress has also been supportive and together we wrote to President Donald Trump urging him to support an emergency declaration for mid Michigan. On May 21, he approved Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s emergency declaration request. The president’s approval of the request allows federal resources to support state and local efforts for recovery and rebuilding.
